Setting correct expectations...

So at least I didn't hang myself from the beginning setting the incorrect expectation that I would post daily. ;) Who has time for that?

Anyway, the Rector family survived Thanksgiving. We made three stops and I am pleased to announce that we managed to stay relatively on schedule. The food was incredible, we ate at 2 places (well dinner at one and pie at the other) consuming a "reasonable" amount of food at each place. However, don't let me fool you, if my Grandma had been finished cooking, our schedule (and our "reasonable amount") would have been really thrown off because who can resist those homemade noodles?!?!?!?

My cousin Erin was in from Chicago for the weekend and Colin had a wonderful time getting to know her. She is very fun and Colin was quite excited to have a new girl to bat his eyelashes at! On Saturday night, Doug and I hosted a small get together at our house. We had a great time with some close friends and my crazy cousins! Colin, on the other hand, spent the better part of Saturday with his paternal grandparents wrapping them even more tightly around his little fingers!

Jennifer and I took both Bailey and Colin to get Christmas pictures done yesterday. It was nothing short of disastrous. Bailey, love her heart, just does NOT like to have her picture taken. That little girl can be all smiles up till the time you sit her in front of the camera and then...nothing. I have to say it is almost comical, although I would imagine Jen might disagree! The pictures are cute (how could they not be? we have CUTE kids!) and we should get them back in a week or two. I will have e-mail proofs before that so I will post the link up here so you all can see them.

Well, I will write more soon and promise to get pictures up soon (see "soon" sets correct expectations!)

No Turkey Day pictures because I forgot the camera...but these aren't terribly old!

Chillin' in the ball pit at home a couple of weeks ago.

Our ferocious lion from Halloween!

With his Mickey Mouse ears from our Disney World vacation in October!

More to come soon....enjoy!!

In the beginning.....

So we have started this blog to keep family up to date with the happenings around the Rector household. It is doubtful that anyone else would find much interest in our boring lives! Instead of backfilling the history since Doug and I have been married (almost 2.5 years now) I will give the cliff notes version in 3 sentences or less (and sentences in parenthesis DO NOT count!)....here goes:

Shortly after Doug and I's wedding in July of 2003 we found out that our family of two was in about 9 months going to become a family of three. Fast forward to the birth of Colin Patrick in March of 2004, he is quite possibly the cutest baby ever born (right, I know, I am totally biased!). These days Master Colin is tormenting my Aunt Cathy during the day (she is a kind soul who has infinite patience and keeps Colin while Doug and I slave away at work; she thinks it's fun, we think she's crazy; but we love her for it!) with his explorer spirit and has become quite the crawler although he would much rather run!

Now for the front page news. Today Colin woke up with dry pants and the peed on the potty!! Oh what an exciting day (when he is about 13 he will REALLY hate this!) and one that Cathy has been working so hard to get to...WAY TO GO BUDDY!
